Shawna Barker
Bio for Shawna Barker:
Shawna’s interest in food and nutrition started when she decided to become vegetarian. This slowly progressed into veganism over the years as she became more aware of environmental issues, as well as realizing that her body didn’t feel very good when she consumed dairy. Her early vegan years where full of too much processed foods and way too much cooked food, and although she felt better on a vegan diet she knew she could feel even better if she made some changes.
Shawna has a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of British Columbia, where she majored in Food, Nutrition, and Health. She also went to the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition where she received a Registered Holistic Nutritionist diploma. Through studying nutrition and learning about raw foods she soon began incorporating more and more living foods into her life and has never felt better!
After she finished school Shawna moved back to Victoria, BC to start a small, organic farm and a living foods cafe kiosk. She currently offers private nutrition consulting and living food workshops, including Alissa Cohen’s Raw Food Chef certification course.
